The truck driver who plowed into 8 motorcycles, stopped at a red light, killing 4 people – is now in jail and deservedly so. Methamphetamines were found in his blood. He apparently appeared to be impaired when the police arrested him yesterday on manslaughter charges. The court has declared a $1,000,000 bail. Basically, that guy is going to be behind bars for a long, long time if the charges of drug use while driving a commercial vehicle stick. Good riddance. Gives the drivers that are GOOD drivers yet another blemish in the trucking industry due to some freak’s inability to live his life without endangering others by his own stupidity.
I don’t mean to sound too caustic in my judgement, but this is outrageous. I have made mistakes driving semis – so has everyone that drives – but this wasn’t a mistake. This man chose to take those drugs before or during his work and unfortunately for the company he is driving for, they are undoubtedly going to be sued for untold millions of dollars. Hmmm, but at the same time, a meth user has certain traits that are exhibited while on the stuff, I wonder why no-one was suspicious.
Whatever. I’m referring to an accident that happened up in North Phoenix. I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t have a blip in national news the day it happened.
Situation here is starting to reverse. The non-payer finally got his first paycheck – small one cause’ it didn’t have much hours on it – and handed me some money. I expect next week to receive much more from him. The newest tenant will, hopefully, be handing me the rest of the month’s rent by the middle of the month, the other dude is paid up for the month.
I am working – quite a good deal – on getting all this outdoor stuff done concerning the watering project as it is going to get warm here sooner or later and I’m going to hate that I didn’t finish it while it was nice out. Plus planting more plants that I acquired at the college nursery elimination.
A man pulls up in front of my house yesterday in a battered old pickup. I read him like a book: he had papers for one of my tenants and I wasn’t going to accept it. He had stated he had been flashed by photo radar – I will not accept court papers from a process server for a photo radar ticket. I am vehemently opposed to such being anywhere for a multitude of reasons.
My dogs happened to be out there with me, that man wasn’t coming anywhere near me, he stood on the sidewalk in front of the short wall. I didn’t even let him speak first: Whatever that s*** is in your hand, I don’t want any of it and I won’t be taking it. He started asking me questions, I told I didn’t have anything for him – leave. He is not a law enforcement officer, actually, the guy was a TOTAL SLOB. Freakin’ hair dishevelled, around 350 pounds, dirty clothing, button down shirt hanging out, freak of nature. Get out of my field of view cause’ I don’t want to puke on my plants.
He went back to his truck, sat down in it and talked on the phone. He came back out and I headed for the gate – I wasn’t going to be handed anything from this guy. He speaks loudly: Well, they want me to leave this anyway. Snapped a shot of my face with a camera phone – which is when I informed him to smile because you are on video surveillance and pointed to my cameras. Told him that that was an illegal service. He hesitated at that one. He did, however, leave the paper lying on the fence – nothing holding it there and got into his truck. I walked to the side yard and started digging more holes – tomato plants. I went back to the fence after he left – he was sitting at the end of the street, just sitting there.
Well, it turns out, it wasn’t anything from the courts. He didn’t tell me who he was, what the papers were about – nothing, so I assumed it was the photo radar junk. Instead, this tenant’s former boss – of whom was fired for assaulting my tenant – got a lawyer and the lawyer was sending an “official letter” stating that his client was falsely accused, blah blah blah and that if he, my tenant, doesn’t send a letter to Papa John’s and recant the accusation, his client is going to sue him for monetary damages.
Please give me a HUGE break. Lawyers ALWAYS think they can intimidate people. If it were me, I would have already filed a lawsuit against both Papa John’s AND the former boss for monetary damages. I found this out, btw, cause’ the paper was still sitting out there this afternoon – I figured to read it since I am not the person it is pertaining to. I gave the tenant my opinion of it – he doesn’t have to reply to that letter at all, it isn’t a legal, court issued document. I would probably ignore it if I were playing it the way he is (which I wouldn’t, but whatever), wait for the lawsuit and then file a counter-claim. I would try to find a lawyer on contingency, if I couldn’t I would do it on my own as I have done many times now. He has witnesses – my tenant that is – or so he claims, that can testify against this former boss’s allegations.
Enough. I forgot to buy watermelon seeds when I was at Home Depot. I will try to remember tomorrow. Plant them along side the house and see if I can get a dozen or so of them going. I planted 6 of the tomato plants and then realized I didn’t have enough room for the other 12 – at least in that location. I think I have a good place to plant at least 5 more of them.
Well that’s really it for today. I am expecting another $25 from the trailer tenants outside. Not a lot – but I have made it clear from the beginning that they are to pay for their use of electricity and water – which they have every Wednesday since they moved into that thing. They aren’t here – they always leave on Wednesdays on their bicycles for parts unknown. I’ll take every penny I can get and I will get it – I have lots of patience.
I want to go out and do more work outside – I have already spent 2 hours out there after work today, I figure another hour will be good – and good for the soul.
G’day.
